On Kindness AND Trading

In a discussion regarding the ability to remain upbeat about our society and yet trade in the markets detached from emotion, a post on Minyanville this morning quoted Adam Lindsay Gordon:

"Life is mostly froth and bubble,
Two things stand like stone:
Kindness in another's trouble,
Courage in your own.

If one is to be successful in the markets, one has to be emotionally detached. The trader must employ patience and discipline above all else. He must refrain from making decisions based on hope or fear.

Smita Sadana closes his post this morning with this bit of wisdom:

"As social beings, we owe allegiance to the society by our words and deeds; as traders and investors, our allegiance is towards our trading accounts!"
