The Red Sox just lost to the Yankees today, 3-2, on a walk-off single by Jason Giambi off of Jonathan Papelbon with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth at Yankee Stadium.
I take solace in the fact that the Red Sox took 2 out of 3 games in the Bronx this week, and are still six games ahead of the Yankees in the wild card chase. In fact, Baseball Prospectus estimates the odds of the Sox reaching the playoffs this year to be 93.6%, while the Yankees' odds are a mere 1.4%. That alone is worthy of a celebratory Sam Adams.
