Spent the Labor Day weekend at my in-laws' mountain house in Linville. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the Land Harbor pool (my son Duncan loved it) and the children's fishing pond (Duncan and Hank caught nothing, but were enthusiastic about casting and reeling).
Sunday afternoon we took the kids on a day-hike on the Flat Rock trail near milepost 308 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Had a picnic lunch overlooking the Linville Golf Course in the valley below, with Grandfather Mountain looming in the distance.
Thoroughly enjoyed the downtime.
