As Opening Day beckons a mere 26 days away, I will note that many baseball scouts are very bullish on the Red Sox. To many of them, the Red Sox had a better winter than the Yankees, in spite of the fact that the Yankees spent $243 million in the offseason.
I can't wait to see how the new starting rotation works out (Beckett, Lester, Dice-K, Wakefield and Penny), with Smoltz and Buchholtz waiting in the wings. Honorable mention: Bowden, Saito and Bard. The last name, Bard, might be the story of the summer. 100 mph with movement, striking out the sides in spring training.
Depth, not Dollars. I likey.
