While walking the beach with my wife last month, we got to talking about our two sons, who are now 5 and 3. It occurred to me some time ago that our time with them is very limited, though they are still young.
Our conversation went something like this: we have known each other for nearly 11 years now, and the time has flown by. In another 11 years, our two boys will be in high school and will be halfway out the door. So in the interest of making memories, we decided to put together a long-term vacation plan for our family, to anticipate the years ahead, rather than watch them whiz by and wonder what if.
Listed below is our projected timeframes, and approximate times of year for various trips to take with the boys. I will no doubt edit this list going forward:
Spring 2010: weekend trip to Atlanta, catch a Braves game, go to the Aquarium.
Summer 2010: beach trip
Jan 2011: weeklong trip to Disney World
Summer 2011: beach trip
Jan 2012: San Diego, catch Seaworld and the Zoo
Summer 2012: beach trip

Very aggressive schedule, I know. The list is meant to be a planning tool, however, not a concrete schedule. No doubt work and finances will preclude much of this from happening. But ya gotta plan!
